Siddhithumka


From Siddhithumka Dada(hill) situated in Siddhithumka VCD golden view of sunset, must of the flat paddy fields of the terai, panoramic hilly range of Chure and Mahabharata can be seen clerarly.This place can be reached after three hours from the district head quarter of Ilam. Vehicels via Mangalebare can reach this place and also from Ilam.

Mangmalung


This is stuated in the middle of the forest at the upper part of Ibhang VDC and the is one of the important religious place for the Kirats. This place is regarded as the Kirati Religion. Many statues of snake, lion, eagle, Budhanilkanths and big stone having different images can be seen here. There is also a cave of Matrika kirateswar and the festival is celebrated with great pomp every year. After traveling by bus from Ilam to Ravi via Raanke and walking two hours from there one can reach here.

Chhintapu


11 types of Rhododendron, rare birds, butterflies important for research and studies important herbs like Yarshagumba (aphrodisiac) and Paach aule and rear animals like red panda and musk deer are found here. Mount Kanchanjunja aloung with most part of Ilam can be viewed from here. After a taxi ride to Deurali from Ilam via Maipokhari and a 3 hours walk thereafter one can reach Chhintapu.

Sandakpur


Sandakpur is situated in the north of Ilam as the most interesting trekking spot as well as tourism area. Sunshine, sunset, Mount Kanchanjunjaga, Mount Everest, all parts of Ilam District, most part of tarais' low land and main part of Siliguri(India) and Darjeeling in India can be viewed in a glance from this place. Various kind of animal like musk deer and red panda and rare species of birds like pheasant can be also seen here. This place is the origin of Mai river and thus is important from the religious point of view as well. Jaubari is also a touristic place of this belt. Maimajhuwa Khorsanetar can be reached via Maipokhari by vehicles from Ilam. From there Sandakpur can be reached after walking 5 hours via Goruwala Dada and Guraskharka.

Shree Antu

Antu hill is situated in the far east of ilam .It is famous for the panoramic view of sunrisealong with the glance of majestic Mt. Kanchanjunga range. Most of the low lands of Jhapa, Kurseong(India), and Darjeeling(India) along with beautiful tea gardens can be seen from thisview point. Thia place can be reached in an hour by small vehicles as means of transport from Fikkal and Pashupatinagar

Kanyam and Fikkal
On the way to Ilam Bazaar, Kanyam and Fikkal have large tea estates that have made Ilam famous for more than a hundred years. These tea gardens are popular among tourists for Picnicking, sightseeing, and photography. Fikkal is a business center in eastern Ilam and on the Mechi Highway leading to Ilam. It is also the junction from where one can go to the eastern border city Pashupatinagar adjacent to Darjeeling district of India. Indian and Nepali nationals can cross over the other side of the border with valid documents.

Ilam Distrcit


The headquarter of Ilam district and Mechi Zone has the picaresque location in the eastern region of Nepal. It is situated between 26°40’ to 27°08'
North latitude and 87°40’ to 88°10’ East longitude which extends form east to west lying more or less within the Mahabharata Range . Panchthar is in the North, Jhapa is in the South, West Bangal (India)is in East and Morang with slide touch ( Dhankuta) district in the west. It lies to the south of the Mahabharata range in the lap of the Shinghalila range. Geographically it is a hilly district, with the elevation ranging from 140 meter Sanishare Peltimari(Banjho VCD) to 3636 meters Sandakpur (Mabu and Maimajhuwa VCDs) above from sea level. There are four main rivers(Jogmai, Puwamai, Mai and Deaumai) in the District; so it is called Charkhol (District of four rivers) . Most of them flow from north towards the south. The climate of this district as a whole is dry & cold in winter and hot & rainy in summer.It is rich in its own kind of social and cultural heritages. People here live in peace & harmony irrespective of divrese caste, creed, race, religion and culture. A wide range of ethnic groups with their typical customs, tradition and cultures reside here. Ilam district is divided into 48 Village Development Committee and one municipality. Most part comprises of hilly regions with farmers as the main inhabitants along with businessmen, officials and government employees. People here treat their guest as gods & show their extreme hospitality. They owe higher degree of physical development, human development and literacy rate in comparision to other hilly district of Nepal . of ‘6 As’.Potato, Cardamom, ginger, Red round chilly, Milk - and Broom grass - are the major cash crops which are known as Aalu, Alaichai, Akbare Khursani, Olan, Amliso respectively in tribal Nepali language.

Panchakanya Temple

Panchakanya Temple Panch mans five and kanya means virgin girls, from where the temple derives its name. It is the temple of five goddesses: Draupadi, Tara,Manju, Kunti and Parvati. Situated 1 km north of Vijayapur square, it is a historical temple supposed to have built by a king of Sen Dynasty, Narendra Sen in the 16th century. Dilapidated by the earthquake in 1988, the temple was renovated later. A beautiful evergreen forest surrounds the temple where peace, tranquility and the beauty of nature reign. Devotees flock there in thousands with the staunch belief that the deities there bless the deaf, dumb and blind children with speech, hearing and eyesight.
